So how are you doing so far? Has the rush of the holiday season caught you in a swirl? For many of us, our calendars are filled with office parties, holiday brunches, shopping excursions and menu planning. Let's all take one huge time out. Let's all sit in the corner, with a cocktail in one hand and some seasoned nuts or rum balls in the other.
For many of us, it is a great time - getting together with friends and family is cherished. For many of us, it's a time of dread and anxiety - the obligation of another family get-together just plain sucks.
So wherever you are with the holiday spirit - we hope you come out of it unscathed and in one piece. And to help you on your journey, we've compiled a list of things to have handy or things to do or places to go - a holiday survival kit, as it were.

- Holiday Movie - Female Trouble also by John Waters. OK, if you are sensing a pattern, it is purely coincidental. Female Trouble is not a holiday movie, but has a great scene where Divine is upset with the Christmas present that ma and pa have bought her. You can check it out on YouTube.

Of all the role models we have today, his story caught many off guard. My gosh, it's Tiger Woods for goodness sake. When we think of Tiger, we think wholesomeness, family and apple pie. What happened? OK, the facts are still unfolding and there will probably be more paragraphs added to this surprising story. But let's remember there is a wife, children and a golf club involved. We all make mistakes. And by golly, we all pay for them, too. Luckily, must of our lives are not scrutinized by the press, the gossips or the righteous.
The DML wishes the Woods family the best. It's very easy to ridicule a sad situation, check out the video. (We think the video is very clever.)
We just hope not many will be able to claim they've had a tiger in their tank, too. (If you get this reference, you be old.)

New York State Senator Diane Savino speaks her truth to colleagues in hopes of passing a same-sex marriage bill - beautiful words that inspire. But not enough to garner enough yes votes. One step forward, five steps back - the dance is getting old.
How Can California Truly Protect the Sanctity of Marriage?
The religious righteous community have had their say. Their financial and morality influence has shaped many political dialogues. Protecting the sanctity of marriage has been their major focus these days. It's been about what the neighbors do, and how that affects their children. Seriously, if you are grossed out about your neighbors - quit looking in their bedroom window.
John Marcotte, 37, wants to add the California Marriage Protection Act to the state's Constitution to outlaw divorce, just as Proposition 8 did for same-sex marriage. "It's actually what I think is kind of a logical extension of Prop 8, which was the California Marriage Protection Act," he said. "It would protect traditional marriages by banning divorce in the state of California."
The DML agrees it's time for the religious righteous to clean up their own backyard - more than half of marriages in California end in divorce. The LGBT communithy is not the real threat. With all the justification that was provided in supporting Prop 8, we anticipate the Catholic and Morman church's response. Was it really about preserving the sanctity of religious marriage?

Divorce is the biggest threat to any marriage - gay or straight. Everyone has a responsibility to fulfill a lifetime commitment, it is about in good times and in bad. Let's get on it right now.

Whether you celebrate the birth of Jesus, the gift of miraculous light, the power of the universe or the tradition of family and culture - we say to you, "May your heart be filled with joy and laughter." It's a good feeling to have all through the year.
We know for some, the story of Santa and the hustle and bustle is draining. Day-to-day stress and family dysfunction tend to get magnified - as do our credit card bills. My goodness, when else would you be obligated to exchange gifts and break bread with co-workers you just don't trust? Oh no, before we slip into that dark holiday abyss of sadness and bitterness - we're gonna stop right here. Pour yourself a drink. Let's repeat "May your heart be filled with joy and laughter." That's our mantra for the season and we are gonna concentrate on that message.
So a hearty "Ho ho ho" and a sincere "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" to you.
