2008 Is Finally Over
The Dirty Martini Lounge wishes you a very Happy New Year. We hope that your celebration was safe and joyful.
As we enter 2009, Rob and Craig are excited about the changes that are coming. Ok, we hope we have seen the bottom, hmm, there's no way but up from here. So shake off the dust and let's get going.
Have you made any resolutions for the start of the new year? Are they realistic? Small victories add up, so start off right. Make a list of things that you can actually accomplish. Then go for the big ones after.
Yes you can.

Our Holiday Vacation
This year we decided to forego the exchange of Christmas presents and to end the year with a 5 day drive through California.
Since gas was much cheaper, we chose to do the things we like to do - Take a relaxing drive, Shop at outlets and antique shops, Eat and drink out, and Sleep as long as we wanted. Our mini trek took to us to San Diego, Santa Barbara and Monterey. We had nothing planned, just a hotel reservation at each location.
We opted to drive US101 as opposed to the 5. We weren't in a hurry, so we chose not to race with the semis and speed demons on 5. It made for a scenic and relaxing drive.
San Diego is one of our favorite towns to visit. We love the outlet mall right at the border across from Tijuana. We always to manage to find special deals. And we always go to Ocean Beach and visit the antique shops. Did you know that we love collecting unusual Cactus and Succulents? There is a nursery in San Diego that never fails to satisfy. We came home with about 7 new garden additions.
Santa Barbara was a new place for us. Since we only had one night planned, there wasn't much time to see everything. We did take in the ambiance of the Santa Barbara Mission. That is another fav thing we do - checking out the California Missions. We also toured the town by driving the Scenic Route. It took us into the hills with great vistas, along the beautiful coast and through State Avenue, the popular street with trendy shops and boutiques. The duo ended the evening at a local sports bar watching part of the Emerald Bowl where CAL was playing. They were so butch as they yelled at the TV monitors while sipping their cosmopolitans - tres masculino.
And finally we visited lovely Monterey. The romantics watched the sun set along the beach at Pacific Grove - it was beautiful.
We had a great vacation to celebrate Christmas and to end the year. The DML hopes your holiday was special, too.

There was a true feeling that change was in the works. Hey, who would of thought that some of the change included a couple of steps backwards.
The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat all in one evening - great. . .
